Featuring many interesting displays of Western memorabilia from the pioneers that settled in the Uintah Basin area.
Our tack and saddle shop has "working" saddles used by cowboys on the ranches, prim and proper side saddles for the ladies of that time, Calvary "Mother Hubbard", a rodeo bronc bustin’ saddle and more.
Imagine the distinquished gentleman with high topped spats getting "a shave and a hair cut" in the barber shop chair.
The pioneer blacksmiths were indispensable craftsmen. Our display shows many of the items that had to be created and, often repaired for a ranch, farm or town to function.
Country stores were hubs of the pioneer community offering a multitude of items ranging from china plates to fishing poles, fresh eggs and milk to tins of crackers and hard tack, material for the ladies and cigars for the gents.
Our other displays feature Fremont and Ute Indian artifacts, one-room school desks complete with inkwell holder, ladies finery home-sewn on treadle sewing machines, parlor furniture with organ for Sunday evening socializing and horse-drawn farming equipment pioneers used to work the fields to raise the crops.
Picture galleries of "Uintah County Sheriffs" - 1880's to Present; "Women of Courage" during the early 1880's/1900's; Rustic Cabins and Forgotten Relics.
We encourage and support the arts in the community. The Basin area has a wealth of talented artisans. The museum hosts a variety of art and photo exhibits, Native American arts, quilts and more.
