Got the
maize craze? Well, then, get lost in Bluebell. Each fall,
the Monsen Family and maze designer Brett Herbst - the world's
leading designer of 206 corn mazes worldwide - offer an intricate
network of twists and turns carved into 6 acres of corn. A
unique source of good farmin' fun for adults and children

The core of this early August festival is experiencing the great
(and deserted) trails of Flaming Gorge National Recreational
Area. Famous for its vast, colorful landscapes, Flaming Gorge
offers miles of trails for riders of all abilities. Guided boat/bike
tours, live entertainment, and free camping. All centered around
Red Canyon Lodge.

A homegrown Halloween tradition. View a field of carved pumpkins,
sit around a bonfire at the Jensen Town Park, and enjoy hot
cider, cookies, and toasted marshmallows. You never know whooooo
might show up!

Jarvie Ranch, a National Historic Site operated by the Bureau
of Land Management, is the site of a nineteenth-century trading
post. During the summer months, visitors from all over the world
tour the historic site, but in December, the ranch takes on
a special charm. Each year, volunteers and staff decorate the
ranch and trading post in great detail as an historical recreation
of Christmas in the 1880s. Tours, live entertainment, and refreshments.

Flaming Gorge's last BIG celebration of the season! Weekend-long
Labor Day festivities in Manila, Parade of Lights & Fireworks
at the Lucerne Valley Marina, Yacht Party on Lake Flaming Gorge.

Every Fourth of July weekend, the Northern Ute Nation celebrates
and shares their culture during their annual pow-wow in Ft.
Duchesne. Experience dancing and singing competitions for individual
and group dances, as well as competitions for elaborately decorated
pow-wow regalia. Enjoy traditional American Indian foods. Browse
through booths of both traditional and contemporary artwork.
Just off Highway 40 - Right Hand Side Near Turnoff for Ft. Duchesne.

Ride the trails of Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. This four-day
annual event held in June has a bit of everything to keep a
cowhand happy: trail riding, camping, cook-outs, and entertainment.
Experience the real west, with its history and folklore, along
trails that wind through western canyons and mountain plateaus.
Different trail, different adventure, each year. Registration
required.

Each summer literally hundreds of local actors, singers, dancers
and theater technicians produce this highly successful and popular
outdoor theater venue held at the Western Park Amphitheater.
Broadway musicals, original musicals about Butch Cassidy and
the Wild Bunch, melodramas and comedies have delighted the locals
and tourists for over sixteen years. Check our calendar for
this year's musical selection and dates.

Voted by PRCA cowboys and contract personnel as one of the "Top
Five Rodeos in the World," this 'down home' rodeo held
in July is a must-see for rodeo fans. Four days of rodeo, parades,
dances, cowboy poetry, and musical entertainment.

Premier event of the winter holiday season. Fully decorated
Christmas trees, wreaths, quilts, and specialty items auctioned
off for local charities on display at the Western Park Convention
Center. Sponsored by the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce, this
must-see event is open Thanksgiving weekend FREE to the public.
Monday night auction gala.

One of the Basin's biggest FUN-TIME celebrations. What
started in Roosevelt in the early part of the 20th century as
a display of the latest in farming and industrial technology
has developed into a yearly gala in August complete with parade,
talent show, concerts, picnics, and dances. FREE and open to
all.

Held each September at Starvation State Park, four miles west
of Duchesne off US 40, this two-man (or woman) live-well tournament
is fun for all ages. Find out for yourself if Starvation Reservoir
is truly "the easiest place in the state to catch walleye."
Prize money for winning teams, plus lots of additional drawings.
Past sponsors have included Rocky Mountain Anglers, Crestliner,
and Robertson's Marine. Registration required.

This festival combines artist competitions, including plen aire and digital photo categories, with activities celebrating the Uinta area and its wide variety of animal life. Public exhibitions, cash prizes, and children's divisions are on the docket, as well as chances to see and learn about the majestic osprey, bighorn sheep, endangered fish, and dinosaur fossils. |
